Peck, peck, peck! The jay wants the sun. Scorpo hides. Under the pot he goes. Sebastian creeps. Up the curtain, up, up. Green, gold, swirl! Where did he go?
The blue jay pecked at the windowsill. It would not move from the sunny spot. Scorpo scuttled under a flower pot. Sebastian crept to the curtains. He pressed against the painted flowers. His colors swirled and changed. Soon only one eye was peeking out. The jay could not see him at all!
The bossy blue jay pecked at the ledge, daring them to come closer. Scorpo slipped into the cool shadow of a flower pot, his tail curled and ready, while Sebastian crept toward the patterned curtains. Slowly, swaying like a leaf, the chameleon pressed himself against the fabric. His bright turquoise skin rippled into emerald swirls and golden stripes until he disappeared completely, with just one eye left watching the feathered thief.
The brazen intruder pecked firmly at the ledge, daring them to step forward. Scorpo retreated slightly into the cool shadow of a terracotta pot, his tail poised in quiet calculation. Beside him, Sebastian crept toward the heavy, patterned curtains flanking the glass. With slow, rhythmic swaying, the chameleon pressed against the woven floral fabric. His vibrant turquoise skin softened, rippling into deep emerald swirls and faded ochre stripes. Within heartbeats, Sebastian vanished entirely into the tapestry, leaving only a single watchful eye trained on the feathered trespasser.

Everyone knows someone whose pet is family. A book starring that pet, with their real name and their real habits, is a gift nobody sees coming: for a birthday, a gotcha day, a new puppy, or Christmas morning.
You choose the reading level. For a grown-up, Keepsake Narrative reads like a short story. For a child who loves the family pet, pick the level that fits them. The price is the same whether the book has one pet or a whole crew.
